Clinton St. Baking Company cookbook review

I am always in the search for new recipes so when I was asked to review the Clinton St. Baking Company cookbook I jumped on it. Browsing through recipes is (sadly) a past time of mine.

After opening the book I quickly spotted the recipes I would be testing out for my review. I chose the Buttermilk Fried Chicken on page 120 and the Brookies on page 193.

I liked how the book gave small tips in the sidebars for example: Place the thigh skin-side down on a cutting board and use the heel of the knife to whack through the middle of the thighbone. This will help the chicken cook faster because it won’t have to cook through the bone. Additionally, more marinade will penetrate the chicken and you will lessen the chance of blood spots. Suggested serving dishes with the Buttermilk Fried Chicken are Honey Tabasco Sauce, Jalapeno Cornbread (which we also cooked) and Coleslaw. I heard from Krista at Heavenly Savings that the Honey Tabasco was wonderful!

I chose to cook the Brookies because they are brownie cookies (does it get much better than that)?). I felt this recipe was easy to cook and I have to admit sadly that we ate the first batch in one sitting…depressing actually but it shows how good they were. The recipe also gives alternate flavor combination such as white chocolate, walnuts, or peanut butter chunks instead of the chocolate chunks. I even used Butterscotch chips and felt they were better than the chocolate chunks because it added a different element of flavor rather than just chocolate.

Neither of these recipes turn your crank? Well with seven chapter of recipes that include recipes such as Pulled Pork and Eggs, Lemon-Lavender Loaf Cakes, Banana Chocolate Chunk Muffins and Bellinis (the next recipe on my list to try).

The Clinton St. Baking Company cookbook can be found here for  $19.79.

**I recieved a copy of the Clinton St. Baking Company cookbook for the purpose of this review.  This did not influence my reveiw in any way and the above review is 100% my own opinion.**
