Feature Friday – Craft e-Blog: Business Life and Really Cool Crafting

Where are you from and tell us a little about yourself?
I am Amy Kalinchuk, from Denver, Colorado. I am an author, publisher, crafter, and public school teacher.
Let us know a little about your blog?  How long have you been blogging?
I have been blogging since 2004, but have restructured my blog to have a tighter focus within the past year or so. Now, it’s focused on craft business topics.
Why did you get started blogging?
Blogging, for me, was a fun novelty as a writer. The potential to have so many readers looking at my words, on the Internet, forever, was appealing to me. I figured out that not that many readers were reading it, because it was a personal blog and had no focus, which is why I changed it. Now, I’m blogging as a platform to help others learn about owning and running a small business, and to help others get a some publicity.
What is your favorite post?
That’s hard to say. There are so many. Probably this one.

Who does your blog appeal to?
My blog appeals primarily to women, ages 25-60, who are interested in learning about crafts and business.
What challenges have you faced so far with your blog?
The weird, buggy formatting of Blogger is annoying me lately. I have an appointment with my web guy who is going to help me move the blog to WordPress, during the last week of March.
What is your favorite aspect of blogging?
Engaging in conversations about topics that I love is my favorite aspect of blogging. I love learning from the experience of others.
What other blogs do you read?
Oh, my. So many! Erica.biz, thisissethsblog, Mod Podge Rocks, Handmadeology, Baked Bree, Thursday Night Smackdown…the list continues. Somewhere.
Do you foresee your blog expanding in any direction?
If I gain enough followers each month, I hope to open the blog up to advertising.
Any other sites you can be found on?
I have two websites: one for the crafty, and one for the publishing.  www.soapcrone.com and www.crafte-revolution.com
Anything else you would like us to know?
Leave comments! If you read something you like, and have something to say, leave that blogger a comment! It’s frustrating to think that folks are reading, but we don’t know if folks got anything out of it. Let us know.
