5 Recipes To Kick Start A Stalled Diet Plan

Every year, there are countless people who resolve that this is going to be the year they lose the weight they’ve wanted to lose.  They start with great plans, follow diet and exercise regimens with laser-sharp determination, but within a week or so, they’re struggling.  Diet doesn’t have to mean “die with a T”, however; here are 6 recipes you could potentially follow in order to kick start a stalled diet plan:

Chicken Tikka Masala

Whether served with rice or warm pita bread, this is a tummy-warming tasty dish.

The Cast Of Chicken Tikka Masala

1 cup yogurt
1 tablespoon lemon juice
2 teaspoons ground cumin
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 teaspoons cayenne pepper
2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper
1 tablespoon minced fresh ginger
4 teaspoons salt, or to taste3 boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-size pieces
4 long skewers
1 tablespoon butter
1 clove garlic, minced
1 jalapeno pepper, finely chopped
2 teaspoons ground cumin
2 teaspoons paprika
3 teaspoons salt, or to taste
1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
1 cup heavy cream
1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro

Directions For Chicken Tikka Marsala

1.  In a large bowl, combine yogurt, lemon juice, 2 teaspoons cumin, cinnamon, cayenne, black pepper, ginger, and 4 teaspoons salt. Stir in chicken, cover, and refrigerate for 1 hour.

2.  Preheat a grill for high heat.

3. Lightly oil the grill grate. Thread chicken onto skewers, and discard marinade. Grill until juices run clear, about 5 minutes on each side.

4.  Melt butter in a large heavy skillet over medium heat. Sauté garlic and jalapeno for 1 minute until soft. The 2 teaspoons cumin, paprika, and 3 teaspoons salt should be used for seasoning. Stir in tomato sauce and cream. Simmer on low heat until sauce thickens, about 20 minutes. Add grilled chicken, and simmer for 10 minutes. Put on serving platter, and garnish with fresh cilantro.

 

Honey-Pecan Oatmeal With Raspberries

Whole grain oatmeal is a relatively inexpensive fat blaster, carving away belly fat in a short span of time.  Blending your oatmeal intake with tasty nuts like pecans and a drizzle of honey only adds to the flavour fest, with raspberries offering a nice serving of fruit when ordinarily, breakfast would be a rushed affair with no time for balance.

Directions Of Honey-Pecan Oatmeal With Raspberries

To your morning oatmeal serving, add:

2 teaspoons of honey
2 tablespoons of pecans
¾ cup fresh or frozen raspberries

 

Tasty Rice and Bean Salad

The beauty of beans is that they are not only rich in protein – a perfect way to keep your energy from crashing in the middle of your day – but they are also high in much-needed fiber.  To make this tasty salad, toss together:

6 tablespoons cooked brown rice
4tbsp kidney beans
½ small red onion
baby sweetcorn
French beans
Cherry tomatoes
1 tablespoon fat-free dressing

Southwest Chicken

Sometimes food from the southwest gets a bit of heat for their sometimes-heavy recipes but in reality, there’s lots of ways to cook in the southwestern style and sacrifice a few calories too.  For this tasty meal, you’ll need:

1 tablespoon vegetable oil
4 skinless, boneless chicken halves
1 (10 ounce) can diced tomatoes with green chile peppers
1 (15 ounce) can black beans, rinsed and drained
1 (8.75 ounce) can whole kernel corn, drained

Directions For Southwest Chicken

In a large skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Brown chicken halves on both sides. Add tomatoes with green chile peppers, beans and corn. Reduce heat and simmer for 25 to 30 minutes or until chicken is cooked through and juices run clear. Add a dash of cumin and serve.

 Turkey and Mandarin Orange Cheese Wraps

The Cast Of Turkey and Mandarin Orange Cheese Wraps

4 (10-inch) whole wheat flour tortillas
4 ounces (half of a large block) cream cheese, softened
1/3 cup mandarin oranges, chopped and drained
1/4 teaspoon ground chipotle chile pepper, optional
1/4 cup sliced green onions
6 ounces deli smoked turkey breast, sliced very thin
20 medium spinach leaves, washed, dried, and stems removed

Directions For Turkey and Mandarin Orange Cheese Wraps

Mix cream cheese, chile pepper and chopped mandarin oranges until thoroughly blended.  Spread ¼ of the mixture on each of the tortillas and sprinkle the sliced green onions on each of the tortillas.  Divide the turkey into 4 equal portions and top with equal portions of the spinach leaves.  Roll into wraps.
