Don’t Let Christmas Get The Best Of You Turn Freebies into Gifts

Turn Freebies into Gifts

Turn Freebies Into Gifts

Who says nothing in life is free? Apparently they aren’t looking in the correct places, right?!? Anyhow, have you ever re-gifted because you ran out of money for the gift you really wanted to purchase ? Maybe you just came up empty all together and gave a $20 which put you over your budget and you felt wasn’t thoughtful. No worries, here are a few ways you can turn freebies into gifts while still giving great gifts!

Themed Gift Baskets

Turning freebies into gift baskets is a great idea and a way to get rid of all the freebies you’ve been collecting! A themed gift basket is a fabulous way to go if you have lots of toiletries, stockpiled items in your pantry and freebies for baby. You can also throw in free magazines that you receive in the mail into your themed gift baskets.  That Freebie Site and Free Coupon Alerts are great places to see some of the hottest freebies around daily and many of the items can then be combined to make some great themed gift baskets.

Coupon Books

No silly, wrong coupon book! The coupon book I’m talking about is one that you create and offer services to the gift recipient. This may be a night for free babysitting, a home cooked meal, cleaning up the house, free car wash, etc. Get creative with this gift and include the kids when you can!  Check out my free printable coupon booklet for dad (just leave off the top coupon that says Happy Father’s Day).

Use SwagBucks

If you search the internet and not using Swagbucks, what are you waiting for? This free toolbar allows you to search the internet just like you would Google. However, they reward you every so often with Swagbucks, which can be redeemed for gift cards, prizes and even a Paypal deposit!  I cash my points in every couple of months for Amazon gift cards and am saving up my cards for a Nikon 70D camera.  I have a ways to go but when I do snag one it will be for free just for using Swagbucks.

Utilize FreeCycle

Chances are there is a FreeCycle group in your area. If so, take advantage of it! Grab things that you think can be utilized for a gift. Turn a old mirror into a bright and beautiful focal point for a new home owner, refinish a dresser for the new baby, grab free glass jars for homemade candles or Recipes in a Jar!

Children’s Artwork

It seems every Grandparent has it all, am I not right?!? Have your tiny tots fingerpaint a bright photo that any Grandparent will be proud to display in their home or office! If you’d like to go the extra mile and provide the artwork in a frame, check out the $1 frames!  See how we turned finger painted pictures into snowflakes for Uncle Brad.

Love of Photography

Are you an inspiring Photographer? If you love to take photos consider offering a Portrait Session to the gift recipient. This will allow you to grow your portfolio if you are building one, spend time with a great friend or family member and give great photos at the end of the session!

Create It

Some of the most memorable gifts are ones that have been created. This shows you have put thought into the gift and is much appreciated. Some gifts you can create and give as a gift would include a Recipe Book, Photo Book (often just pay shipping with coupon codes), Calendar, Cd, Candles, Homemade Soaps, Lotions or body scrubs, Video with Music of Favorite Photos, etc. All you have to do is get creative and create it!

  • These are some great ideas! There are many things that I get as a blogger, which I end up gifting. I also use gift cards I have earned as payment to pay for Christmas. It definitely helps!
