The leaves in Colorado have been saying Fall for several weeks now and the calendar officially agrees!

Fall is officially here and let me tell you I am loving it minus the pesky flies!  Winter used to be my favorite time of year but as I get older I believe that award now goes to fall.  The changing of leaves makes for gorgeous views, waking up to the crisp morning air, smells of pumpkin and apple spice are filling the air and as a whole I think we band together a bit more as a community before we are shut ins for a really cold winter!  Last year we had over 11 consecutive days where the thermometer didn’t even come close to reaching zero.  

Along with the crisp (cooler) mornings the baking smells of pumpkin and spiced apples are some of my favorite things.  I pack my counters full of apples for this Cinnamon Apple Recipe because it is so versatile.  Most only think of Cinnamon Apples as a side dish or dessert but below I have 11 uses for this Cinnamon Apple Recipe that I have all tried personally and loved!

Ingredients
  1. 5 apples diced
  2. 1/2 cup water
  3. 2-3 tablespoons white sugar
  4. 2-3 tablespoons brown sugar
  5. 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  6. 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  7. 1/8 teaspoon cloves
Instructions
  1. Combine all ingredients in a medium sauce pan and bring to a boil.  Let simmer until apples are tender (about 3 minutes).
Notes
  1. My cinnamon apples take a total of 10 minutes on medium the entire time.
