Fall is a fun time for our family! We enjoy watching the leaves change colors and just having family time together. With little ones in the house I also like to pick non spooky fun things the whole family will enjoy together. We started the tradition of painting pumpkins a while ago and it still continues every year.
DIY Pumpkin Painting With Little Ones
To enjoy pumpkin painting together here’s what you’ll need to do.
DIY Pumpkin Painting
- Small, medium, and large pumpkins
- Finger paint or regular paint
- Paint brushes
- Newspaper for less of a mess
- Paper cups for rinsing off paint brushes
- Templates (optional)
DIY Pumpkin Painting Instructions
Let your child choose which pumpkin they’d like to paint. Help your children get situated and get them started on painting. Allow your child to exercise their imagination and paint the pumpkin how they want. The adults can join in on the fun too. I always put newspaper down on the table to keep paint off of everything that’s not supposed to have paint on it. Plus, it’s easy to clean up when all you have to do pick up the newspaper and throw it away!

9 years agoI love the idea of painting the pumpkins instead of carving them. It’s safer and gives little ones more of a chance to be actively involved.

9 years agoMy kids love, love, LOVE to paint pumpkins and I think it’s a great way to keep Halloween safe for them…plus, who wants to have to deal with all the scooping of seeds anyway? After our pumpkins have dried, we often spruce them up with a few stickers. 🙂

9 years agoThis is a great way for kids to decorate pumpkins. They are able to get more involved than if I have to carve the pumpkin. Cute!
