How To Choose Smart Jewelry

Wearing jewelry can convey a strong statement about you to the people who see you. Through age-old art such as paintings and sculpture, you can see the important people decked in tons of elegant and beautiful jewelry. Even today, royalties still wear a considerable number especially on important occasions. A big difference though is that people today have become smarter in wearing them instead of piling up on whatever jewelry they can get their hands on

What do I mean by smart jewelry? It simply means that you are wearing jewelry that is appropriate for the occasion. It is a practice in balance and treading the thin line between too much and too few. As I have said, wearing jewelry is sort of making a statement. In general, we would like people to know that we have an exquisite taste in stones, precious metals but that we also have the smarts to know coordinate our outfit with our bling.

The problem, especially for most women like me, is that jewelry stores can have a good number of fine jewelries. It becomes a problem of choice: would this match with most of my outfits? Or would that other one look better? Does this diamond set scream my personality? Fear not, for I have come up with several guidelines on how to choose smart jewelry

Complement your skin tone.

Pink and red hot jewelries best complement people with fair skin tone while people with rich, dusky complexions are made prettier with yellow to gold tones. Use the mirror to see if a jewelry’s color matches or clashes with your skin tone.

Take occasions into account.

If you have a strict office dress code, it is a bad idea to take bold, big and colorful jewelries that scream for attention. Take small yet elegant pieces that complement your look, instead of taking the attention away from what you are supposed to be doing. If your work involves dining with business associates in a warm, casual manner, don’t be afraid to use some color on your jewelry. If you are going to party with people you expect will be dressing it up, let your hair down and don’t be afraid to be bold.

Size matters. Body size, that is.

Recent trends has put chunky accessories in the spotlight and has influenced more people to do the same to get more noticed. Before you do so, take a look at your body frame. If you are slender and on the small side, a normal person’s big jewelry might look too big for you and even overwhelm your frame. If you want to be trendy with chunky jewelry, make sure that the jewelry is chunky relative to your body size.

While these tips seems to be more common sense, common sense isn’t as common as we think it is. These basic tips should help you decide which jewelries are smart enough to be part of your daily or special ensemble. It should keep the focus on the basic statement that most women would want to convey: that we can be both smart without taking away any of the dazzle.
