Tip Tuesday: Plastic Bag Storage

Welcome to Tip Tuesday!  Where I plan on sharing a new tip with you each week.  Something that will save a little time and generally is done on the cheap!

If your like me and tend to forget the re-usable bags you have sitting on the counter when you go shopping you tend to have a mass pile of plastic bags stored up.  I hate to throw them away because I know they can come in use for a variety of things.

How do you control them though.  I mean I used to shove them in the bottom draw and then when you opened it the bags would come flying out at you.  Yea my draw was that scary.  Recently the perfect idea came to me and it is CHEAP!  Diaper wipes make the perfect plastic bag storage.

I have tons of diaper wipes containers as most moms do.  They are the perfect tool to keep my plastic bags in and they help limit how many I actually have on hand at any given time.  I keep two diaper wipes containers in my bottom draw and boy it sure is cleaned up.  One contains the normal plastic bags that you get at City Market or Safeway and the second diaper wipes container contains the produce bags.   It is a bonus if you can find one that has a cute pattern on the container as well and you don’t even have to “hide” them away.

Looking for more tips to make life easier?  Tuesday Tips is a great place to find them and my Top Five often contains a couple.

We have THE most perfect drawer that is the best size for bags. I swear the lady before must have had it built just for this but I’m loving this tip!

On the rare occasion that I do have plastic bags, I put them in the bottom of the trash can in the bathroom. That way they’re ready to go when the trash is full.

I do the same thing! My husband never replaces them after he takes the trash out so half the time they all end up getting thrown away because they have trash on them.

I have this plastic bag sack thingy in my pantry that I bought at a craft fair. I love it!

My mom has one of those and it was great growing up. I don’t have any place I feel like I can “hide it” or hang it on the wall out of the way so I resorted to a draw.

    I can’t believe I haven’t thought of this before!

I know right. I have been keeping tons of them around my house to store crayons and little cars in but it took me forever to use it for plastic bags. Enjoy a less cluttered bag draw.

Great idea! A few years ago my mom bought me a fabric bag holder, so that’s what we use. It can hang on a door nob and it’s long and thin, so it doesn’t take up too much room.
