Today I’m going to let you all in on a little secret…. deep down, I think I’m kind of a hippy at heart. I love natural, organic foods and products (have you noticed?) and about once a year I go on a completely vegan diet just to prove to myself I can. (Then I’m overwhelmed by cravings for sushi so I become a meat and dairy eater once again!) Just recently, I received some really yummy vegan candy bars from Go Max Go Foods . This amazing company is a family-owned and operated, vegan candy producers located in Santa Fe, New Mexico (we’re almost neighbors!). Now I know what you may be thinking, the words “yummy” and “vegan” are not often seen so close together in the same sentence, but I’m telling you that the candy bars from Go Max Go Foods were delicious (maybe even better than the average Snickers or Almond Joy)!
I received four types of candy bars to review: Jokerz, Twilight, Buccaneer, and Mahalo. They were all great, and I’m not going to waste your time trying to list all of the ingredients of each bar (go HERE for a complete description of all Go Max Go Candy Bars). But I will tell you that I am obsessed with the Mahalo bar – an amazing, coconut filled, chocolaty creation that I literally hid from my kids in the laundry room pantry so I wouldn’t have to share. Of course, just because these candy bars are vegan, doesn’t mean they are calorie-free. But knowing that they are made without any animal bi-products, using natural and earth-friendly ingredients sure goes a long way towards making them a guilt-free indulgence once in a while. Just be cautious, the first time you try any of these candy bars, you’re guaranteed to be hooked for life.
