This is a day we are supposed to remember those who have served in the military. Especially those who have given their lives for the United States.  Plan some meal items that incorporate red, white, and blue or make a favorite food of someone you know in the military. It gives you a great opportunity to talk about the person you know in the military and honor them.

Have a Memorial day fishing expedition

Fishing is always a good time to talk, and meditate. Since memorial day is to remember, talk about the sacrifice these young men and women give to serve their country. The sacrifice also extends beyond the military men and women, but also to their families. Mother’s or father’s who have to work harder to care for and support the family in this person’s absence. Don’t forget the children who live day to day without seeing their mom’s or dad’s every day.

Have a special hiking the trails afternoon

Hiking is another great opportunity to talk and enjoy nature. Talk about the civil war that was the reason memorial day was started in the United States and the immense impact it had on the USA. Talk about the children who have to live without their extended family members, like uncles or aunts.
