Spring is right around the corner and for us that means it’s time to get outside. I personally am looking forward to this spring more than any in the past. This year hopefully our grass has wintered over and I just keep getting visions of Coulter running and Corbin crawling after him. This has me ready for Spring and I have to admit I am getting a little bit of Spring fever. As I love winter this is unusual for me. Now that I know I want to head outside it’s going to be a matter of what to do all day. While I have grand visions of how it’s going to be I need to face it, I will need some motivation and most importantly ideas of how to pass the days.
15 Minutes Outside is full of ways to get out of the house and connect with your kids (365 ways to be exact). This is just what I need to help pass the time. While some of them are things that I already was planning on such as learning who is getting ready to hibernate, relay races and drop and splash. There are plenty of other options that I hadn’t though of including determine from which tree the branch fell from , off road it and stage a flashlight drama outside to name a few.
While I am just talking about Spring so far 15 Minutes Outside is broken down into 12 months worth of activities. This is a huge help to me because it’s hard to think of something to do when it’s 2 degrees outside. While I may have to pass on the outside time then when it’s 20 degrees there is no reason I can’t get the kids dressed up for activities like Breathe Easy or Create A Wintery Wonderland of Narnia.
For all 365 activities listed there is a small description and/or thought provoking questions. These activities should really help keep the “I’m Bored” mantra at bay this summer. 15 Minutes Outside is written by Rebecca P. Cohen who two years ago made a New Year’s resolution to get out of the house every day and bring her tow young sons with her. Over the following year (and sometimes much to her surprise), she stuck to it, with gratifying results. In the course of 365 days outside, Rebecca was amazed to see her family draw closer. She believes that her experience is not unique, and her considerable audience – the moms who follow her online and on air- agree.
