The Complete Guide to Consequences Review

How often have you thought there should be a manual or at least a troubleshooting guide to children. I know many parents who are amazing and effective at getting their kids to behave, I however have lost that power somewhere between 2 and 5, (although my husband holds it a good portion of the time). My middle two boys are wild, my 3 year old often can not sit though a meal, while my 7 year old is stubborn beyond belief. Public trips are often embarrassing, frustrating and exhausting, (although it has gotten us to the front of lines quicker). So I have looked in to several tools to help me help him, one such tool is The Complete Guide to Consequences. Created by James Lehman, also the creator of The Total Transformations.
I was offered to review The Complete Guide to Consequences. James Lehman was a behavioral therapist, working with defiant, out-of-control kids for over 30 years. The Complete Guide to Consequences offers “simple and effective consequences, why you can’t punish kids into good behavior, how to stay calm and stay motivated. I received a DVD and popped it right in. James Lehman is a realistic teacher, who explains why somethings work and why some don’t. James goes though several common behavior problems with explanations and short role plays that shows the wrong and right way to handle the situation. I liked that The Complete Guide to Consequences, accepted that parents and kids are not perfect, but essentially parents are still that the parents and children need to take responsibility for their own actions and in-actions. While the suggestions made sense to me and would likely work they are aimed at teen and pre teens, so while I can only modify some to work for me now, I will defiantly save this for the not so far future.

My biggest behavior problem with my 3 year old is not throwing a tantrum when she's told no or doesn't get her way.
