I’m Not Tired Yet By Marianne Richmond – Review & Giveaway

About The Book

Ralphie Mix, at age of six, didn’t want to go to bed.

Join Ralphie and national bestselling author and illustrator Marianne Richmond in an endearing bedtime routine that will charm you night after night. Six year old Ralphie invents every excuse to delay his bedtime. His perceptive mom, however, sees his stalling as her invitation to engage Ralphie in a silly series of kisses, hugs, pinches and pokes – all inspired by his favorite animals and each leaving the twosome in a heap of giggles.

My Thoughts

Coulter and I have found a new favorite bedtime book. We make reading a nightly thing in our house and Coulter can just about recite all of I’m Not Tired Yet! Mostly because it’s him in a nutshell! We have created a routine in our own house and if a step is missed than we are in for crying until every step has been completed. Ralphie reminds me so much of Coulter and how Ralphie needs his routine filled with cuddly bear hugs, caterpillar tickles and gorilla hugs.

My husband and I both could relate to the stalls that little Ralphie does in the books and we liked how the mother handled them. While we have a routine that we follow it doesn’t mean that Coulter doesn’t try and add something new every night. The mother in this book let’s Ralphie get away with most of them and Cory and I liked the one-on-one time it encourages. Sometimes with two in the house it’s hard to get alone time with both of them; bedtime routines allow this to happen. Adding a few extra caterpillar tickles and gorilla hugs can’t hurt right?!

My bedtime routine is pretty straightforward.

We have a routine; it’s always bath, story then lights out.

Oh it’s a battle every night to go to bed. Even after a bath and story, my son likes to toss & turn and ask for water, etc to stall

It is a fight usually. We go through the whole routine: PJ’s, teeth, nite loving, bed, and then the repeated go to sleep!!

My kids know that at 7:55 it is time to get ready for bed. They have to take their meds, go do all the bathroom business, grab a book and get in bed ready for hugs and kisses.

our bedtime routine is get a bedtime snack, then brush teeth, story, and then bedtime–i usually have more trouble out of my 14 year old wanting to get to bed than my 6 year old lol

  • Sarah Carroll

We do baths every other night . Every night we have the kids brush thier teeth and read for 20 min. Then I send them to bed. My husband usually is the one to tuck them in.

We set a timer and he has that amount of time to get his toys cleaned, teeth brushed, jammies on, and then to watch a short video if there is still time. Then we read two books, sing a song, then off to bed. Pretty easy most of the time

PJs, brush teeth, read about 3 short books, then to sleep!

Our bedtime routine is pretty straight forward though it’s not ideal. I would like to work on it a bit more. Right now the kids sit down to watch TV which puts my boys to sleep and at 10 the TV gets turned off and I carry them to bed or if ryan is still awake I get him all snuggle bugged in bed and kisses goodnight. If it’s Ryker still awake I have to lay down with them so he can play with my hair and within minutes he is asleep and I sneak out.

I know it’s not the best but it’s my time to finish things up for the day while they are falling asleep. When the hubby is gone so much I do what I have to do.

When my kids were little, it was pretty straightforward, 7:30 baths & bedtime by 8:30…. it’s not so w/my Grands, they really don’t have a routine, so it can be a fight sometimes! (I tried reminding my Son about the routine when he was little & they’ve tried it, but they don’t seem to be able to keep it up!) Holly))

Our routine is bath, brush teeth, one story, and then off to bed.

My grandson lives with me and he has a set routine which includes a short story. He is good about going to bed as long as he gets his storytime.

  • Sandy VanHoey

I live with my daughter and grandson and every night his routine is getting his teeth brushed and flossed, then off to read a few books before bed. Many nights, he is not tired and he is very talkative. Lately, he isn’t getting a nap at Pre-K so…he is overly tired

My grandson is only 2, so bedtime is pretty straightforward. We brush teeth, get a bath, put his sleeper on, and go to his crib. He doesn’t fight it… yet.

Bedtime is good right now- he’s still a baby… but I imagine this would come in very handy as he gets older.

I read to my girls and tuck my youngest in bed. Then I check on them. It usually isn’t a fight, until they keep getting up because they forgot water…or the bathroom, or something else, lol.
