My Take
I received three 3-D puzzles to review from SMARTLAB which included Ocean Voyage, African Safari and Dinosaur Adventure. Coulter is really into dinosaur’s right now and he thoroughly enjoyed the turtle from the ocean voyage kit.
I like how the kits all contain the animal names of what you will be building and that is has it’s own carrying handle. I enjoy that Coulter can carry these items without dropping them and having them fly all over. Coultler is loving how easy the puzzles are to put together because they all are notched out and ready to go. My favorite part of these puzzles is that they come with fact cards that tell you where they live and a few facts about them. For example the Great White Shark lives in warm coastal waters throughout the world and an adult white shark can travel 43 miles per an hour. 50 million is the number of years that sharks have been on Earth.
My one concern was that as I was trying to pull the background pieces out of the cut-frames they belong in I tore a couple of them. They didn’t seem to be punched real well. I can only imagine that if I had problems I don’t presume a four year old is going to be able to do it real well.
All in all I am very happy that my sons will have three of these to enjoy as they grow up. Also, if I go back to teaching I will be more than happy to include these items in my classroom along with their many other great options which include titles such as Amazing Animal Challenge, 4th Grade Challenge, Blast-Off Rocket Racer, Stars & Planets, Cupcake Decorating Studio and many others. This company offers a wonderful variety of superb teaching and learning materials.
