Meet Etsy Owner Dawn from Treacher Creatures and bonus entries!!

Where are you from and tell us a little about yourself?
I am from North Yorkshire England. I am a plush artist. I love creating animals from socks. I also design and make other fleece animals and traditional teddybears along with being a landscape artist.


Why did you start your Etsy shop?
Because I had sewn over 40 sock creatures and they were taking over our house.

How did you come up with your Etsy shop name?

Treacher as it is my name and creatures so as to allow me to stock all manner of creatures. It gave me scope to expand my business later.

What is your favorite item in your shop and why?
My sock flamingo because I had great fun designing her and she is my favourite colour.

What was your first piece you sold?
A sock zebra

Where do you get your inspiration for your pieces?
From the wealth and variety of socks available and my love of animals and all things cute.

Why should people buy handmade?
Because they are made with love and skill and not mass produced in sweat shops. They say we care.

Any advice on selling things handmade?
Ensure they are excellent quality and your own original work.

Do you have plans for expansion?

I would love to expand to include a range of fleece toys too. I already sell these in my Folksy site and hope to introduce these to Etsy soon.
