AmuseTales review and giveaway! – CLOSED

AmuseTales is a new, smart, and entertaining way of introducing today’s children to great, classic fairytales. They are fun to read and even more fun to listen to. But what is even more important – they are very good for children of all ages. Classical music – and storytelling – provides a great way to increase a child’s auditory intelligence.

AmuseTales are especially good for visually impaired children: Music gives the children a means of emotional expression by stimulating them. Most importantly, listening to a great story set to beautiful classical music is fun and one area where the visually impaired child can thrive like any other typical child. Our tales are a great tool to develop better concentration skills in a child, therefore, improving child’s attention spin. But, most importantly, AmuseTales are entertaining, educational and involving.

AmuseTales are set to beautiful classical music, from the beginning of each story to its end. Each fairytale is divided into logical chapters. For each chapter, we chose a musical piece that enhances the situation, evokes the necessary emotional mood, and excites a child’s imagination. Music is not just a background for the story – it is the story’s equal partner. The musical collection consists of the most famous and exquisite music, played by the best symphony orchestras. Illustrations are done by talented artists, and stories are read by professional actors. “Our motto is – “Everything that is done for children should be as good as if it’s done for adults… only better.”

My Take

I was recently sent Mary and The Three Bears for review on this concept.  While the story line remains in line with that of your common Goldilocks story, there has been some improvements.  First of all Mary is asked to be held accountable for her actions in this version.  It also ends with a friendship forming between Mary and the three bears.

The cd that is included has classical music playing to each chapter of Mary and The Three Bears.  Music is chosen to coordinate with what is going on into the story.  All music is soft and background music to the story.  It does however help keep something focused on what is going on.  A real calming effect and as studies who it really helps children learn and process what they are listening too.  While I was doing my student teaching I always had some sort of instrumental music playing while the students were working and because it was complete silence they were able to stay on task better.

Classical music has been proven to help with test scores and help with many disabilities to stay focused and calm.  Pairing that idea up with well known childrens stories is an amazing concept and good for any child.  I have been playing the disc at night when we put Coulter down and he lays in there and tries to hum to the music and can associate it with the story being played.  I will do many things to help my child succeed in school and I love the idea that I can start him off early with techniques such as this.

You can listen to a sample of each story that is offered on AmuseTales website.

There was also a “Virginia History” program that was created for fourth graders at the Drew Model Elementary School in Arlington, VA, to help them learn material about the rich history of Virginia.
