When Little Cub and Grampa Bear’s fishing adventures is interrupted by mischievous otters, the young polar bear begins to question why we must love others…even the seemingly unlovable.  In answering her questions, Grandpa Bear gives tender explanation that teach Little Club about the different kinds of love that is shared between families, friends, and mamas and papas.  Grandpa explains that all these kinds of love come from God and that it is important to love others because, “Any time we show love, Little Cub, we’re sharing a bit of His Love.”

My Thoughts

God Gave Us Love couldn’t have come at a better time.  We were really in need of a new book for Corbin to read as most of his board books are still packed and lo and behold what shows up?  God Gave Us Love is a sturdy board book which is great for the little hands while learning a powerful story.  Filled to the brim with colorful and bright images, cuddly cute bears and various Arctic animals I was able to keep Corbin engaged throughout this book.

Not only was this a perfect book for Corbin because of it’s sturdiness but for Coulter in learning about others.  He is getting to the age to realize that others are different or do things differently.  Coulter and a little boy at daycare are not exactly going to be friends and it’s heart breaking when he comes home and tells me he doesn’t like the little boy.  God Gave Us Love helped give me the reasons I needed to explain to him why we need to give the little boy another chance.  I don’t think he needs to be best friends with the little guy but he needs to get along.  As adults we have learned that sometimes we just need to put a smile on our face and get through the meeting of somebody we don’t care for.  God Gave Us Love is setting the standard and teaching our children this.
