St. Patrick’s day is a pretty big deal in Chicago. Every year for over 40 years, the Chicago River is dyed green to celebrate the Irish. And in true Chicago tradition, the tradition is sponsored by a plumbers union. It takes about 40 pounds of powdered vegetable dye, and the color takes days to dissipate!
