With our fast paced plastic society it is tough for children to learn the value of a dollar and how hard it takes to earn that dollar. Financial Fairy Tales Treasure Box is a great program that helps teach children about money with stories and an activity book.
The Financial Fairy Tales Treasure Box contains 3 stories and an activity book to follow up for the stories. The activity book is wonderful to reinforce the concepts that your children have learned throughout the book. One of the stories is called Dreams Do Come True and is about a woodcutter who would like to own his own horse. He is a very talented woodcutter and carver but he is frustrated because his family could not afford a horse. Through his uncle Tom the woodcutter learns how to use the skills he has to save for what he really desires.
The other two stories in the Financial Fairy Tales Treasure Box are The Magic Magpie and The Last Gold Coin. Through all three stories the concept of working hard and saving are reinforced.
The activity book is withed 52 pages of activities including and answer key. The activities focus on addition, subtraction, finishing the story, paring characters with their plots, crosswords, mazes and a variety of other activities that will provoke learning in your child.
Coulter and I enjoyed reading the stories very much. As they are a little advanced for his level we summarized most of them, but he is still gaining the concept of money. I hear him playing with his toys costing about how much it costs to fix a tire or buy a new piece to his train track.

As a teacher or homeschooler, the activity book would be a great tool to have at a child’s desk to work on at their leisure while waiting for other students/siblings to complete their work. In my classroom we would always have a packet like this for the topics that we were studying and I like that this one is ready made and contains a variety of activities.
