Lets revisit Etsy owner Lindsay from Hemp Harmony

Meet Lindsay

Where are you from and tell us a little about yourself:
I’m originally from Akron, Ohio, but I go to school in Boston, MA. I’m going to be a Sophomore in college studying psychology. I enjoy running, photography, music, singing, and of course making hemp 🙂

Why did you start your Etsy shop:
I started it this summer because I couldn’t find a summer job, to be honest. I’ve been putting a lot of time and effort into my shop, and hopefully it’ll pay off! Etsy’s been great so far 🙂

How did you come up with your Etsy shop name:
I wanted the name to have something to do with hemp, since that’s the medium I work with, and I liked the alliteration of “Hemp Harmony.” It sounded catchy to me.

What is your favorite item in your shop and why:
I really like the bracelets and anklets I’ve created with loose Josephine knots and small glass beads. I created the style myself, and they’re definitely the most popular of my styles.

If you had to choose another medium in which to display your “creativity,” what would that be and why:
Photography. It’s always been a big hobby of mine. I don’t own any of the fancy equipment that I would need to seriously pursue it, but I’ve always loved taking pictures. I considered opening up another Etsy shop to try selling my photographs, but I think I’ll just stick with hemp for now.

What aspect of creating your art/craft do you find the most enjoyable:

Crafting with hemp is very relaxing to me. I always have to be doing something with my hands, and this way I can sit down and actually create something! I like to make most of my hemp products while I’m watching TV at night or listening to music.

How did you decide what medium you wanted to work with:
I’ve always thought hemp jewelry and accessories were stylish, so a little over a year ago I decided to try making it myself. I’m glad I did 🙂

What led you to start creating your art/craft:
I wanted to find another hobby to pick up that would be more productive and rewarding. I love wearing the jewelry I create and getting compliments on it! Plus this way I save money on buying new jewelry because I can just make my own.

Any other sites you can be found on:
So far just Etsy. Maybe in the future I’ll branch out, but Etsy’s been a great place to start and there’s still a lot for me to learn. I also have a facebook fan page and a twitter account for my shop.

Anything else you would like us to know:

I love feedback! I’m constantly trying to come up with new styles, and the hardest thing about selling hemp is making products that people actually WANT to buy, along with marketing to the right age group, so all feedback is welcome! I’ve learned TONS about selling since I first started, but I’m still a newbie. I have a lot more to learn, but it’s been a great time so far. 🙂
