The Guardian Sleeper Review and Giveaway! – CLOSED

With a young one in the house SIDS is always a cause for concern.  While I don’t spend a lot of time stressing about the situation I do want to know that I am doing everything possible to help prevent it. 
We were recently given the chance to review the The Guardian Sleeper by Mommy’s Little Helpers.  The Guardian Sleeper has been tried and tested at the SIDS institute and several hospitals across the country and is receiving rave reviews.  The Guardian Sleeper is currently being used to show nurses how to properly position infants to reduce the risk of SIDS. 
The Guardian Sleeper helps keep baby in the correct sleeping position, helps prevent the blankets from coming up over baby’s head, swaddles baby in the harness, the swaddle promotes increased sleep duration, helps keep baby from overheating and suffocation, and helps to eliminate the need for excessive heating in the baby’s room, therefore reducing the danger of fire or overheating.  
After looking over the reading materials and getting the Guardian Sleeper on Corbin’s crib which was extremely easy we attempted to use this for naptime.  Keep in mind that Corbin has just hit 7 months and The Guardian Sleeper has an age range of 0 – 6 months.  Corbin has taken to wanting to sleep on his side so we struggled with trying to use this as it helps keep them on his back.  However, in the earlier months this would have been a helpful assistance to us.  
 


Corbin was a swaddler and I can see how this would have been a comfort and a tad safer than swaddling.  There were many late nights that we would have to re-wrap Corbin because he had managed to escape.  Also, when he didn’t actually escape he would have the blankets up over his face.  It would have been nice to be able to eliminate that worry. 
If your baby has reflux your doctor might recommend you elevate their bed.  Now we have done this a few times when Corbin was coughing very heavily and it’s impossible to keep them in position!  With the help between the baby’s legs this helps prevent them from sliding. 
We chose a soft fleece that is heaven.  I want to find one for myself so that I can be sleeping next to this soft fleece.  The Guardian Sleeper is available in various sizes for a bassinet, pak n play and crib. 
If you have a young one in the house or are expecting I would encourage you to give The Guardian Sleeper a try. We worked so hard at trying to get Corbin comfortable at night and the tightness of a swaddle, it would have been nice to have a product help do that for us, and a much safer alternative.
