Hi Everyone! I am so excited today to tell you about the Read with Max Book Blog Tour. Max (with just a little bit of help from his human Anthony) is the award winning children’s author of Dog’s Move Too! From Max’s Point of View, and, most recently, Dog’s Work Too! From Max’s Point of View a children’s story about Leader Dogs for the Blind. Max is a super cute English Labrador (don’t call him a Golden Retriever or he’ll get grumpy) that is really an amazing author as far as dogs go. Actually, he’s a pretty amazing children’s author as far as people go too. In all seriousness, the Read With Max trans-species team is a really amazing resource for all parents, and Giveaway Blogdom is honored to have the chance to be a stop on the Read with Max Book Blog Tour . There’s a lot I’d like to tell you about, but with limited time and space, I really want to stress Max’s charitable contributions to Leader Dogs for the Blind.
Some of you already know this, but for those of you who don’t, my 2 year old daughter was born with vision problems. From the day she was born I knew there was something not quite right with her eyes, but everyone kept telling me that I was being paranoid, so I bit my tongue, watched, and waited. When she was two months old, I mentioned to her pediatrician that she wasn’t making eye contact and we were referred to a specialist who told us that our little girl had Cortical Visual Impairment – which meant that her eyes worked fine but her brain did not – and she would probably be completely blind for the rest of her life. We immediately began physical, visual, and occupational therapy, and her diagnosis was soon upgraded to Delayed Visual Maturation. After two years, hundreds of hours of therapy, and lots of tears and prayers, June’s vision has improved greatly and she is now considered a typically developing child; but this experience has changed me forever. I owe a HUGE debt of gratitude to the New Mexico School of the Blind and Visually Impaired and the New Mexico Los Angelitos program for working with my daughter and helping my family and me through this ordeal. Programs such as the Leader Dogs for the Blind change lives, and our furry friend Max wants to help them do it.
In addition to helping out with Leader Dogs for the Blind and writing amazing children’s books, Max also has some prizes that he’d like to give to you 🙂 In addition to providing one lucky Giveaway Blogdom reader with one coloring/activity book and one “pawographed” and personalized book of their choice, Max is also giving away a $50 VISA Gift Card to two lucky participants of the entire Read with Max Book Blog Tour. Are you interested yet? Keep reading for entry instructions for both giveaways.

14 years agoHello Giveaway BlogDom. This is Max and your site is Pawrific. I have been looking over your site today and you have so many great giveaways. What a great resource and site.
Well, yes I am an English Lab. I am a pure breed which is a mix of Newfoundland and American Lab. I am a little bigger boned and huskier then an American Lab. I do get confused with a Golden Retreiver and thats because I have very unique fox red color coat, although I am still considered a Yellow Lab.
I was so touched by your Daughters Story. Give her a big hug and Lick from me.
My Dad, Anthony, also had similar experiences. Even later in his life he still deals with eye issues. At the age of 30 he developed cataracts that cannot be treated till later in years, and in 2010 had surgery for his eye muscles after unexpectedly loosing depth perception in his eyes. One of the reason I wrote this book is Anthony's and yes my Grandmother had macular degeneration and was legally blind. Her Lab and I would often help here down stairs, to the table, and with tasks to make her life easier. We dedicated the "Dogs Work Too!" book to her and realize the important of Dogs who help people visually impaired or Blind.
Did you know:
According to the World Health Organization, 314 million people in the world are visually impaired and 45 million are blind.
There are a couple ways we are helping Leader Dogs for the Blind a 100% self funded organization:
1. Awareness. Our Video about our book we are sharing with everyone. Yes, it was selected to compete in a People Choice Telly Award on YouTube, so please visit often and vote.
2. Our Books! Purchase any one and I will donate part of the proceeds to Leader Dogs.
3. Donations: You can make a seperate donation on our first giving site at:
http://www.firstgivinging.com/leaderdogs
4. Tupperware has agree to donate 40% of product purchases on my own Fundraising Website. You can find a link of this website on the Parents Corner.
(100% of Donated/Collected Money does go to Leader Dogs for the Blind.)
Even at my book events I try to raise and share the Leader Dog story. Many volunteer from Leader Dogs take time and visit us and introduce people to the Future Lead Dog Puppies. If you visit our website you can see a TV show "Kids Connection" I did and see Jasmine one of my Leader Dog friends share a story about this great group. (The video is in the Author Section)
Thank you again for participating in my book tour. I am so honored to visit. You have a great group of followers. I will be here today to answer comments and just hang out.
Well, I going to go check out that Piggy Paint, which is similar to my nickname! Talk to you soon.
Hugs and Licks:
Max!
