We at Giveaway Blogdom have had a busy last week and know that we have some make-up to do. Mostly me in catching up on e-mails and even posting a few giveaways. I know I owe you a Mother’s Day giveaway for today. I have had a very exciting weekend and I really have to share it with you.
I belong to a women’s civic group called The Magnolia Society which is part of CFWC which is then part of GFWC, which is a 100 year old organization of women who are hugely responsible for many of our laws including getting seat belts installed in cars. The particular group that I belong to picks an organization every year that we choose as our benefactor from out charity auction. This year our goal was to raise $22,000 for our benefactor. Well we hosted our dinner auction last night and while the actual numbers are not in, we raised over $15,000 from our auction alone. We still have cash donations, ticket prices and the bar funds to add in to our total, so this leaves me hopeful.
When our group includes only 10 people this is a huge function to pull off with a little over 200 hundred guests. We had a great time and all the women are just as excited as I am to hear the total raised. This is a huge endeavor every year and this year was not different. Even more it seems as we changed our venue and had to take care of the set-up and take-down which is usually taken care of by the hotel. It was a great experience and while I feel like I was nailed by a Mack truck it sure does end the weekend on a good note with a huge feeling of accomplishment.
