BSW Toys Review and Giveaway (Birthday Bash) – CLOSED

Lately I’ve been getting a lot of products to review that my daughters are loving, but my son has felt a little left out.  So when I found out I was going to get to review Shrinky Dinks from BSW Toys, I jumped at the chance to choose something for Johnathon to play with – and that decision has made me mommy of the year in his eyes :-)!  Shrinky Dinks are these super-creative products that your kids use to make their own, miniature, and sometimes even 3D toys.  A Shrinky Dink kit comes with 10 Shrinky Dink sheets, a set of instructions, and a sheet of traceable characters.  Basically, your child traces the character on top of a Shrinky Dink sheet, colors the whole thing in, then you cut it out, stick it in the over for 3 minutes and – *Voila* – you have a brand new, miniature, handmade toy!

When I first received my Shrinky Dinks in the mail, I have to admit that I was a little skeptical about how well they could possibly work.  The Shrinky Dink sheets felt kind of flimsy and I honesty thought I was going to end up with a bunch of tiny pieces of trash when everything was over.  However, once Johnathon and I sat down together to play, I realized that all of my skepticism was completely unfounded.  Johnny and I both enjoyed tracing and coloring our characters onto the Shrinky Dink paper, and when I stuck everything in the oven I was shocked to see that they worked beautifully!  Once the Shrinky Dink is placed in the oven, it not only begins to shrink (duh), it also gets harder and more plastic-like.  10 minutes after we began the “baking” process, we had all of these cool toys to show for it!  If the process sounds complicated, it’s because I’m bad at describing it.  Go HERE to watch a YouTube video of these amazing toys doing what they do best!  I know the lighting in this picture is awful, but if you take a close look you can see the toothpick to the left of the egg that I used so you all could get some idea of how small these cool little toys become.  I am SOOOO impressed with our Shrinky Dinks, my kids love them, and, since they keep them occupied for hours, I do too!
