Where are you from and tell us a little about yourself?
I’m Amanda and I am from Miami, Fl. All my life I have had a creative mind and soul. Ever since I was little, I have always been the one to think outside of the box and try the unexpected. My creative genius does not come alone though. My family is huge help to my thriving business and I couldn’t do it without them!
Why did you start your Etsy shop?
My cousin was the first person to show me the Etsy community. We were hanging out at her house when she showed me this beautiful bow she had bought for her 3 year old daughter. I had already been involved with the bow business so I decided to consider expanding on a different level other than just the people in my area. A few months later I joined Etsy and boy has it been a thrill!
How did you come up with your Etsy shop name?
My Etsy shop name is actually inspired by my family. As you can tell I am very family oriented and we pretty much do everything together. Initially I wanted something cute and memorable so the name had to be catchy. We are mostly girls so that represents the “birdies” in the name. My dad has a background in the online business seeing that he is a valued seller on Ebay and also one of the only men in the family. I wanted to incorporate him into my name so he represents the single “bee”.
What is your favorite item in your shop and why?
To be honest, I can’t really choose a favorite. I stand by all my accessories so choosing just one is quite tough. If I had to pick one though it would definitely be the Jungle Fever hair bow barrette. It’s the same design as the first bow I had ever made, so that will always hold a special place in my heart.
What aspect of creating your art/craft do you find the most enjoyable?
To me, the best part of crafting would have to be the tranquillity. I feel like I am on another world when I am putting together my own creation. It’s completely relaxing and perfect for when you want to get away from it all.
How did you decide what medium you wanted to work with?
It’s basically just trial and error. I tried different materials, elements, and surroundings until I found the perfect fit for my product.
What led you to start creating your art/craft?
I had a lot of time on my hands during different breaks in my life and someone had brought the idea up when they told me how their daughter’s hair bows were falling apart! I had some extra ribbon on my hands from a scrapbooking project I had started a few weeks before and I made a quick bow. Turns out the mom loved it and it was in perfect condition after more than 10 wears!
What message, if any, do you want to convey with your art/craft?
The message I want to convey with my craft would be to appreciate handmade items. With all the new technology these days, I really believe that handcrafted goods are loosing their value. Don’t get me wrong, mass produced goods are great and are a huge step forward but we must not forget the worth of a handmade product. Don’t be afraid to splurge for good quality and a special treat whether it’s for you or a loved one.Any other sites you can be found on?
I don’t have many other sites yet, but I do have a twitter: http://twitter.com/birdiesandbee

I would like everyone to know that I am a very outgoing person. I love to make new friends and hearing from you would really make my day! Please feel free to contact me anytime!
