Cross stitching is a hobby that some people enjoy doing. It is a great way to relax and keep your fingers busy. I wanted to share some tips for those who may be new to cross stitching or just want to spruce up their cross stitch skills.
Beginner Tips for Cross Stitching That You Don’t Want to Miss
Work at getting your stitches even
When cross stitching, you most likely want to keep your stitches as even as possible. When you are cross stitching, you will have more luck with even stitches by using the stabbing method. Some people try to use the sewing method, but the stabbing method works much better.
Try to avoid sweaty hands
Sweaty hands are the worse when you’re trying to cross stitch. When you are doing your cross stitching, try and stay away from anything that will make your hands greasy or sweaty. Keep a towel on hand if they do get sweaty. You can also keep baby powder on hand to try and combat the sweaty hand syndrome when it gets really bad.
Use a posted note to keep track of your lines
This may sound really bizarre, but it will help you keep your lines straight. Just keep the posted note on the line you are working on and it will keep them straight. Give it a try!
Keep your patterns organized
I try and keep my patterns as organized as possible. I’m not a one and done type of person, so I need to stay as organized as possible if I ever want to do the same pattern later down the road. A binder is a great way to keep your cross stitch patterns organized.
Practice makes perfect
Cross stitching is truly one of those things that the more you do, the better you get at it. Take the time to practice and perfect this art in your own unique way.
