Brigitte's Button Bijoux

Meet Etsy Owner Brigitte
(Brigitte’s Button Bijoux, Bnazar)

Store Name

Where are you from and tell us a little about yourself?
I’m from Ontario Canada where I work backstage in a very large repertory theater company and craft in my spare time. I like to take new and recycled buttons and turn them into fun pieces of jewelry, magnets and most recently wine charms.

Why did you start your Etsy shop?
I was making my button creations as gifts. I discovered Etsy through a friend and decided to give it a try.

How did you come up with your Etsy shop name?
I wasn’t really on the ball when I was creating my etsy account. That’s why my shop address is bnazar [!at] etsy.com. As for Brigitte’s Button Bijoux, I couldn’t pass up the alliteration.

Do any of your pieces have a memorable story behind them or what was your first piece you sold?
One day I was thinking about how much I hoped to go camping this summer. My Magnetic Summer Collection came out of those thoughts.

Any advice on selling things handmade?
Make what you love. It’s important to be proud of what you’re trying to sell to others.
Persevere.

Why should people buy homemade?
Homemade items are like homemade cookies. Just that little bit more specially than opening up a factory item or store bought box of desserts.

Any works in progress?
I always have a bunch of things on the go. I have some new magnet ideas I’m going to explore. I’m also exploring bookmarks, key chains and hair adornments.

Where do you get your inspiration for your pieces?
All around me. Nature is a big influence but so is life in general. When I get an idea I jot it down on a scrap of paper until I have a chance to explore it.

Do you have plans f
or expansion?
Not at the moment. I’m happy moving forward with my current shops. I might get brave and try some blogging though.

Any other sites you can be found on?
I have a collection of button wishbone creations that can be found in my Art Fire shop: Wish Upon a Wishbone.
Thanks Brigitte!  Her button art is something very unique and I encourage all of you to check it out.
