Where are you from and tell us a little about yourself?
I am from Louisiana. Lived here all of my life and love it…well minus the humidity and mosquitoes! I am the mother of two wonderfully busy children, an 8 year old son and a one year old daughter. My son keeps me occupied with his school and sporting events. My daughter has another sport in mind…running…and that’s pretty much what I do all of the time…RUN after her! LOL!
Why did you start your Etsy shop?
After my daughter was born, I couldn’t help but want to buy every cute item that I came across. But of course, some items were way too expensive. So I decided to try making them myself. My mother tried to teach me how to sew when I was a little girl but that didn’t work out too well…so here I am now (under my mother’s guidance) sewing away!
How did you come up with your Etsy shop name?
Isabella is my daughter’s name and I call her Bellabug and that’s where the Etsy shop name was born.
What is your favorite item in your shop and why?
My favorite item in the shop has got to be the crayon rolls. They are so compact and convenient! I wish I would’ve known how to make them when my son was little. The crayons were always loose in his diaper bag or all over the car. This crayon roll makes it neat and tidy..Roll it and go!
Do any of your pieces have a memorable story behind them?
I am constantly surfing blogs for tutorials on how to make baby items and came across one on a diaper and wipe holder. I didn’t pay too much attention to it at the moment and just filed it away in the back of my mind. I met with a friend, who just had a baby boy, for lunch one day and she pulled out her diaper/wipe holder. She talked about its convenience and encouraged me to make them. So that is how I got started making them and using them myself!
What was your first piece you sold?
The first item I sold was 2 pillowcase dresses.
Where do you get your inspiration for your pieces?
Anything that makes life with a baby a little more convenient is inspiration enough for me! I am constantly looking for new things to make.
Do you have plans for expansion?
I am always looking for ways to expand my business, in my product line and in advertising. I would love to do wholesale orders for boutiques also!

Apart from creating beautiful pieces, what else do you do?
When I am not taking care of my kids, sewing, and creating…I work part time as an instructor for a local technical college:)
