Chicken Soup for the Soul Raising: Kids on the Spectrum

Chicken Soup for the Soul Raising Kids on the Spectrum

With my partnership with The Chicken Soup For The Soul Network I recently received a copy of Chicken Soup for the Soul Raising Kids on the Spectrum. I was hesitant to receive this book at first because I wasn’t real sure what I would encounter during my readings. I don’t personally have an Autistic child but I do have friends who have children all over the Autism Spectrum and I can’t imagine the having the patience and love that they all have.

My Thoughts on Chicken Soup for the Soul Raising Kids on the Spectrum

I have worked with some Autistic children and have even watched many of them on occasion and I will admit it is a trying task for me. I know that they have something to say and have a lot to contribute but it’s hard for them to be able to get it out and in a way that I can understand. This makes both of us frustrated! I know I am not alone in these thoughts and feelings and I only have to do it for short periods of time. As a parent I can see how many feel lost and alone at times.

Chicken Soup for the Soul Raising Kids on the Spectrum walked me through all the feelings that parents may have if they have a child on the spectrum. It contains stories that will have you walking through a day in the parents and child’s life. Without having a child of my own on the spectrum to relate to it can often be hard to understand truly what a parent and child goes through.

If you have a child on the spectrum or a friend who has a child on the spectrum I recommend Chicken Soup for the Soul Raising Kids on the Spectrum as a great gift. Chicken Soup for the Soul Raising Kids on the Spectrum lets parents know they are not alone through this process and they may even learn a few things as they read other parent’s stories, I know I did! In a rural community such as mine there are not a lot of resources available to parents who need it and even less interaction sometimes with others who are going through the same thing. While nothing beats one-to-one contact with another to swap stories with Chicken Soup for the Soul Raising Kids on the Spectrum could help a little.
