DIY Decorative Fall Mason Jar Lanterns

DIY Decorative Fall Mason Jar Lanterns

These Fall DIY jar lanterns are an easy and great way to set up your house for the fall holidays coming up! They don’t require a lot of work and are an awesome look for putting them along the walkway to light up your house or putting them on the table to give a dim lighting to a room! There are two different methods I have provided for you for the jars! So let’s get started on the first one!

Money Spent to make both jars: $4
Time Spent to make both jars: 2 hours

The Cast Of DIY Fall Leaf Jar

Jar (I bought a knockoff mason jar from the Dollar Tree for $1 but if you have an old pickle jar or something like that you would like to use that works)
Faux leaves (bought at dollar tree a bundle for $1)
Mod podge (If you don’t have mod podge you can make your own. You mix two parts white glue to one part water)
Fake tea lights (from the dollar store)

Directions For Leaf Jar

1.  Coat your jar in your mod podge mixture

2. Begin placing leaves onto the jar

3.  Allow this to dry completely (takes about 45 minutes or so!)

4.  Now, put another coat of your “mod podge” over the leaves and allow that to dry!

Easy enough? Let’s move on to the next one!

The Cast Of DIY Ribbon Jar Lantern

Jars
Painter’s tape
Hot glue gun
Spray paint (I already had, but can be found at wal-mart or Meijer, anywhere like these kinds of stores)
Fall ribbon (I bought mine at the dollar store!)
Fake tea lights (from the dollar store)

Directions For Ribbon Jar

1.  Get painters tape and tape of the center of your jar

2.  Now, using a fall color.. I used tan but you could also use brown or orange or even yellow, spray the whole jar with your color!

3.  After it is dry, remove the tape and cut a piece of ribbon long enough to fit around the jar.

4.  Now, take a hot glue gun and glue the ribbon around the jar!

You’re done with both jars in just a couple of hours and that includes drying time.  Now you have some awesome looking decorative fall mason jars for your decorating needs! I hope you really enjoy making these super easy, affordable, and adorable jar lanterns! All you need is a light to to make them shine at night.  I bought fake tea light candles that light up using a switch from the dollar store (2 for a $1) I just thought that was much safer, but you can choose to use a regular candle if you’d prefer!

This is a great activity to do with the kids as well, just make sure you run the hot glue gun!

What do you put inside the jars? I cannot find that anywhere with your directions.

      LaWanda-
I use tea lights in my jars. You can use either the flameless ones or the ones with flames. I snag them from the dollar store when I am there.

This looks like a craft my 2 granddaughters and I could do on one of the days they come over and want a project to do. I like the idea of using fake tea lights and faux leaves from the dollar store.
