Today I am happy to feature Esty artist Cindy who owns two Etsy shops CJ’s Fine Designs and CJ’s Supplies. I am really happy to feature Cindy and adore many of her items. As many of you know we are expecting our second child in July and so many of Cindy’s items are something that we could use. We don’t need a lot of items because we saved everything from our first son, however Cindy’s items are they type of items that tend to need replaced from one child to the next. If you are an avid sewer you can use CJ’s Supplies to purchase some very cute fabric and items needed to make your own items. Please stop and visit both (CJ’s Fine Designs and CJ’s Supplies) of Cindy’s shops to see what she has to offer.

Where are you from and tell us a little about yourself?
I am from Connecticut. I am a mom of a 13 year old boy. I work part-time in an elementary school and sew full time for my children’s shop. I love children, so both of my jobs are great! I am happily married to a wonderful man who has been so supportive of my home business.
What is your favorite item in your shop and why?
CJ’s Fine Designs – My new reversible pillowcase dresses are my favorite. I love the fabrics I chose and the functionality of the dresses!
CJ’s Supplies – Alexander Henry is my favorite fabric designer, so any of his fabrics are a favorite!
Do any of your pieces have a memorable story behind them or what was your first piece you sold?
My first piece I ever sold was a fleece baby sleep sack, which is a very popular item! I was so excited that someone wanted to buy something I had made.
Where do you get your inspiration for your pieces?
I have so many friends with babies and young children. I love seeing the styles they wear and listen to wishes and wants from them. They complain about inconveniences with certain baby items, so I try to design the items with more accommodating features for moms.
Apart from creating beautiful pieces, what else do you do?
I am a proud owner of two very large dogs, so I love to take them walking or to the dog park. I also like to scrapbook, bead jewelry, and decorate our home.
Any advice on selling things handmade?
Just make sure you take pride in your work and feel confident.
Why should people buy homemade?
I think it is wonderful to support handmade and small businesses. The custom items you can purchase combined with the fantastic craftsmanship is enough reason for me!
