Family Activities for Fall That Won’t Break the Bank

Fall is almost here, the weather is cooling off and the days are getting shorter. This means that you are probably looking for some fun weekend family activities to do. Here are some family activities for fall that won’t break the bank.

Family Activities for Fall That Won’t Break the Bank

Pick some berries

Many cities and towns have local berry farms. Take the family to check out the one in your area. It is inexpensive as you are only charged for whatever berries you and your family pick.  Berries are great not only for eating fresh but also for making pies and smoothies.

Hike the trails

Pack up the family and head for the trails. Fall is the perfect time for a hiking excursion because of the leaves changing colors. Be sure to pack some snacks and water for the hike.

Go camping

Yes, the weather may be getting cooler but that doesn’t mean you still can’t go camping.  Fall camping is the perfect time to roast marshmallows by the campfire and snuggling up in the sleeping bags. You can spend the night at most parks in the United States for under $20 a night and you usually have access to running water, cooking facilities and bathrooms.

Play soccer in the park

Have you ever tried to play sports in the middle of July? If you have, then you know it is hot and uncomfortable. During the fall season, the weather is cooler so it is the ideal time to head to your local park to play a game of soccer with the family.

Jump in a pile of leaves

There is really not many fall activities that cost less than jumping into a pile of leaves. Get the family together, rake the yard and make some huge piles of leaves. Then, once the work is done, everyone can have a ball jumping into the piles of leaves.

Spending time together as a family doesn’t need to cost anything. We love doing things like soccer in the park and jumping in a pile of leaves together. It’s not always what you have in your pocket that matters, but who you’re around that matters most!
