Funny Bone Readers review and giveaway! – CLOSED

My Take

These will be a great resource for any home or classroom.  They are pretty short stories at 16 pages, which was good because they were able to hold my son’s attention.  Sometimes the learning books can be a bit long and drawn out to hold his attention.

I received the Funny Bone Readers parent pack 1 which held the following titles: Turbo Turtle to the Rescue, Let’s Bee Friends, Fun in the Mud, Space Cat, Silly Till and Royal Rules and Magic Words.   Space Cat is Coulter’s favorite book out of the set and it teaches the lesson about never giving up.  What kid doesn’t like a story about a cat going into space and what a great way to learn a lesson at the same time.  The other books consist of showing gratefullness, being friendly, sharing, following the rules, and magic words (please, thank you).

At the end of each book their is a page asking a question to the kids about the lesson in the book that should provoke a discussion between a parent/educator and child.  The learning page also contains key words from the book and it’s meaning.  I thought this was a great learning tool for any parent/educator to have.

The illustrations are wonderful.  They are very bright and colorful to hold a child’s attention.  Coulter is in love with the items that we find in the backgrounds of the pictures (think two year old mentality) and it’s really helping with his vocabulary.  He learned scissors which was a big new word for him.  This lead to trying to teach him how to cut and that’s another story.

This set of books would be a wonderful set to use for homeschoolers.  I could see endless teaching possibilites that could come from this book.  I would have projects with shadow box book reports, journaling entries, vocabulary, and even spelling.

Both of my kids will be gaining many lessons from these books for years to come!
