Green Ostrich Re-usable Sandwich Bag Review and Giveaway – CLOSED

A woman-owned business founded in 2009 based just outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Green Ostrich™ started with the following observation: the energy-intensive retail stores that we frequent do not offer many Earth-friendly, green products. That, and we were spending a lot of time and energy driving in our car to and from these stores.

Why did we pick an ostrich? The ostrich is one of the most Earth-friendly animals in the world. They compare favorably with cattle, poultry, and pigs, because they require less feed and less land, and they reproduce quickly. Review of the Lunchskins re-usable sandwich bag
Let me start with that Coulter loved the colors and design of the LunchSkins Reusable Sandwich Bag – Navy Blue Sharks. I loved the fact that I was using one less plastic baggy. Plastic baggy’s are expensive and clutter up landfills. If you had a variety of LunchSkins on hand you could send a new one everyday and throw them in the dishwasher with your regular dishes. I found that I preferred to turn mine inside out to make sure all the crumbs came out, but they washed up great.

We had no problems with the ketchup or jelly that squished out of the sandwich leaking from the LunchSkin and mixing with the other items in your lunch. This would most certainly be a sign of the fact that they are grease-proof and moisture-proof.
The velcro across the top is very studier and strong. While this is great for me, Coulter struggled with opening it and if there had been a sandwich in there… That being said I am not sure how many two year olds will be opening this by themselves.
LunchSkins have passed rigorous testing from an independent lab, and are certified lead-free, Bisphenol A (BPA)-free, and phthalate-free. The thin layer of polyurethane was tested and does not migrate into food or leave a “plastic” odor behind, meeting all European Union requirements for food contact.
