The Key To The Kingdom by Jeff Dixon

Jeff Dixon is a storyteller.  Each week he researches ancient manuscripts and examines them for content, meaning and understanding and describes his findings, using illustrations, to a crowd of listeners at Covenant Community Church in Central Florida.  Some people might call this preaching (but that can sound boring!)

Jeff brings and intensity and passion to communicating that incorporates his early years in Orlando, working at Disney World: his educational trek that landed him at Southwestern Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas; and the latitudinal and longitudinal journey ministering in churches trying to impact the world.  Jeff loves living in the heart of the Florida with his family, friends, and hist annual pass to Walt Disney World.

I can’t be the only person who really hasn’t had a desire to visit Disney World.  I mean honesty *hold your breath* I still don’t know which is which.  However, The Key To The Kingdom (Deep River Books) may have changed my mind.  It gave a different aspect and mysteriousness to Disney World that I was never aware of.  Maybe all the instances mentioned in this book are common knowledge to the general public and I was shielded but I tend to think some of the references are not as widely known.

Now you may be asking yourself why did she read this book if Disney World isn’t her thing?  Because I do love a good mystery.  The Key To The Kingdom did not disappoint.  As you follow “Hawk” through the novel as he eludes those who are chasing him, meets a mysterious women and follows clues to solve the puzzle about getting the key to fit you are drawn into learning about Walt Disney World and it’s maker.

What do I love about this book besides it being a different (but good) mystery from my usual reading material?  It is appropriate for all ages.  NO PROFANITY.  It’s rare to find a book that doesn’t have something or reference some inappropriate conduct of the younger generation.  I can’t wait to loan The Key To The Kingdom out to many in my circle because of this.  I know it is the type of book that any eleven year old would enjoy and one I can feel good knowing they are reading.

With the above being said, The Key To The Kingdom has really sparked my interest in attending Disney World.  As you journey through with “Hawk” you get glimpses into the past and a huge part of our history (not the Civil War type of history, but history none the less).
