Let’s revisit Britt from Pink Limed

Meet Britt

Where are you from and tell us a little about yourself?
I grew up and still live in Central Massachusetts. Currently, I’m a full-time Visual Arts and Graphic Design major. In my free time, I love to spend time with my family, my boyfriend and his family, my friends, and my spoiled rotten pets. Most of my etsy work is done in my bright pink studio.

Why did you start your Etsy shop?
When I started my Etsy shop, I had just closed my shop on a certain well known auction type website. I wasn’t really happy with how things were going there, and I didn’t really feel like I got to be as creative as I wanted to be. I had made an etsy account a year or so before to browse around and buy Christmas gifts, and I figured I might as well try it! I’ve been here since; I love it!

How did you come up with your Etsy shop name?
It’s kind of a silly story! I started my first internet business when I was 14 (under the guidance of my father, of course!). As you may suspect, I had a bit of trouble coming up with what to call that shop. I’ve always loved the way pink and green look together. Thus, Pink Lime. The ‘Limed’ came in because I thought it was funny that it sounded like a verb, because once you buy from my shop, I guess you have been Pink Limed. ;D

What is your favorite item in your shop and why?
Oh, that’s hard to choose! But I think my cupcake earrings and necklaces are so much fun and give me so many options to do really cool things! I also adore my Customizable ornaments and magnets. My mom loves to collect ornaments, and the ones my brother and I always liked when we were young were the ones that looked like us or the things we liked. When I sell some of them, I feel like I’m making holiday memories for some other families, which is so wonderful!

If you had to choose one other medium in which to display your “creativity”, what would that be, and why?
Well, one thing about my shop is that I have a huge variety of items because I love to do all sorts of things. One day I’ll be painting, but the next I’ll be sculpting clay, and then I’ll be using scratchboard! I do wish I could play the piano, though. I’ve always had a fondness for it!

What aspect of creating your art/craft do you find the most enjoyable?
Seeing the finished piece! Art is strange in that a lot of times, what you are doing looks really bizarre before it’s done. When you get to see what you’ve visualized all finished, it’s such a great, rewarding feeling! I also love when I get feedback back from a buyer. I love knowing that they’ve gotten my creation and they really enjoy it.

What led you to start creating your art/craft?
I’ve always been drawing. The day I learned to hold a pencil was the day I started. I believe I got into polymer clay when I was a freshman in high school when I wanted to learn something new to do over the summer. Art is a great way to both relax and be productive at the same time!

What message, if any, do you want to convey with your art/craft?
I think people should laugh and have fun with the things around them. That’s why a lot of my items are bright and silly. There is enough unhappy in the world that there is no reason not to have a good giggle throughout the day. Nobody should ever take themselves too seriously, and how can you when you are wearing a lollipop on your finger and cupcakes in your ears? 😀
