Meet Etsy Owner 3Pearls Creations review and giveaway!! – CLOSED

Where are you from and tell us a little about yourself?
I’m from Moscow, Idaho a college town in the Pacific Northwest. I’m married to a building contractor and spend part of my time in accounting.

Why did you start your Etsy shop?
I’ve always made things. I started improvising when I was a very small child and never stopped. I always have several projects going and several more stewing in my head. I sold paintings and did wall murals when I was in my teens and twenties and then started a family and found other outlets for my creativity. My daughter kept urging me to try an Etsy shop and it started to seem like now or never, so I took the plunge.

How did you come up with your Etsy shop name?
I have three children. Two sons and a daughter. When my daughter was born, my husband gave me a necklace with three pearls, one for each of our “three pearls”.

What is your favorite item in your shop and why?
At the moment I’m really into these crochet and bead creations. I was playing around with some ideas and kind of accidentally made one of these bracelets. Now I am a little obsessed with putting together the textures and colors and loving the surprise at the end.

Do any of your pieces have a memorable story behind them?
My shop section called “Little Girl Sparkles” came about because a friend asked me to make something for a gift for her niece. I had a lot of ideas I wanted to pursue and ended up with a whole shop section. I was approached to donate one of the bracelets to a basket that was being put together to brighten the day of a little girl who had been diagnosed with cancer. I have since donated a couple of other pieces to like causes and enjoy thinking that my jewelry may have put a little sparkle into some little girl’s day.

What message, if any, do you want to convey with your art/craft?
I’m not sure that my jewelry conveys any particular message except that I really love all the beauty in the world and if I can create a little more that fulfills me.

How did you decide what medium you wanted to work with?
I have worked in many mediums and am always exploring more. Jewelry happened to be what I was doing the most of when I opened my shop and seemed like something affordable and appealing to buyers. I keep thinking I may add other types of creations to my shop.

If you had to choose one other medium in which to display your “creativity”, what would that be, and why?
I would be hard pressed to pick just one. Embroidery and collage are high on my list lately. I love combining textures and colors especially unexpected ones.


Why should people buy handmade?
Because it is created from the hearts of real people. It has soul.

Any advice on selling things handmade?
I would just say be true to yourself. Remember to respect your own vision and follow your heart. It takes a lot of time that you would rather spend creating to actually sell.

Apart from creating beautiful pieces, what else do you do?
I love spending time with my family and friends. I’m a voracious reader and have a wide range of interests as far as reading material goes. I like traveling and photography, bicycling and hiking.

Do you have plans for expansion?
I think about various ideas for expansion but don’t have a concrete plan at this time.

My Take

    When Marci from 3Pearls Creations first sent me the link to this bracelet I was excited.  Blue is my second favorite color and I just don’t think you can go wrong with blue.  I wished that I had this item available when I got married because it would have matched my bridesmaid’s dresses wonderfully.  I also noticed that the clasp was going to be something I could hook myself.  I didn’t grow up in a family that wore a lot of jewelry so let’s just say that it’s not a pretty site seeing me try to hook some of the clasps.
   As the bracelet arrived I wasn’t disappointed.  The picture held true to the colors and how gorgeous it was.  I am impressed with the durability of the Winter White and Frosty Blue bracelet.  Corbin is drawn to the bracelet when I wear it and does his fair share of pulling trying to get it to his mouth.  Coulter is also far from graceful and has broken every piece of jewelry besides my wedding ring that I wear.  This bracelet I think is going to stand up for a long time.  The beads are tied tight on the string and don’t offer a lot of give.
   The combination of beads is wonderful.  It has a lot of variety and I can count at least 8 different shapes or colors of beads.  I must say they go very nicely together!  With Christmas parties in full swing I have won this bracelet to three parties and have received multiple compliments on it at every one of them.  For those of you who know me, I am the last one on the stylish train and it feels good to get compliments on such a wonderful piece of jewelry!
