Meet Etsy Owner Jade from Blue Bird Photography

1.Where are you from and tell us a little about yourself?
I am originally from the small town of Wallace, North Carolina, but currently live about an hour from there in Wilmington, NC. I am a senior in college at the University of North Carolina-Wilmington and am majoring in political science and international and public affairs. I love to read, cook, and bake.

2. Why did you start your Etsy shop?
I began my Etsy shop in April 2010 – still brand new!

3. How did you come up with your Etsy shop name?
I have always loved birds in general, but especially bluebirds – I kind of consider them a good luck symbol.

4. What is your favorite item in your shop and why?
My favorite item in my shop would probably have to be the print of “Lake Phelps Sunset.” The evening that I took the photo was incredibly beautiful; the lake was so serene with the sun sinking over it. Just as I turned to leave I noticed the colors of the sky changing to intense pinks and purples. The image only lasted a few seconds so I am glad I was able to snap a quick photo! The photograph needed no digital editing – it was so naturally beautiful.

5. Do any of your pieces have a memorable story behind them or what was your first piece you sold?
The piece entitled “Enchanted Winter” is quite a memorable one because it was taken during the first snow this beach town has had in ten years or more!


6. Where do you get your inspiration for your pieces?
I find inspiration everywhere. There is beauty in everything if you look close enough!

7. Do you have plans for expansion?
Since my shop is so new I have no plans for expansion right now.
