Meet Etsy seller That One Magic Girl

Where are you from and tell us a little about yourself?
I am a 17 year old high school senior who loves to learn. I am very nerdy. Haha. I am looking forward to college where I plan on studying linguistics and cognitive science.

Why did you start your Etsy shop?
I have been making things since I was really little because my mom is obsessed with arts and crafts. I thought, hey, wouldn’t it be cool to sell things online? And then I found etsy.


Do any of your pieces have a memorable story behind them?

Not really anything really special. I mean, I really like them all, but I don’t really think there is a story behind any of them.

If you had to choose one other medium in which to display your “creativity”, what would that be, and why?
I really wish I could draw. That is the one thing that I was never able to do, despite my mom always trying to teach me.


What aspect of creating your art/craft do you find the most enjoyable?
I like the mindlessness. It is a good way of relaxing. I get an idea and I just work on it, which is a welcome break from studying.

How did you decide what medium you wanted to work with?
I am most satisfied with my jewelry. Everything else that I make I think is not good enough, but I actually like my jewelry.


What led you to start creating your art/craft?
My mom, as I said, is obsessed with arts and crafts. I have been crocheting and knitting and sewing and making things since I could walk.


Why should people buy handmade?

It is always nice to know that someone worked hard on what you have. Also, you are supporting an actual person and not a huge scary corporation.


Any advice on selling things handmade?
I don’t think I am really qualified to give advice yet. Haha.

Do you have plans for expansion?
I don’t know. I am at a very transitional time, what with college next year, so I am not really sure what I will be doing with my esty shop in the future.
