Meet Wendee

My name is Wendee. I’m from Colorado and live just outside of Aspen. I am a stay at home mother of four. The oldest is in first grade and the three little ones are at home with me. They keep me pretty busy, so my Etsy shop is more of a hobby.

I started my shop because I found that although I am a very busy mom, I absolutely need a creative outlet. I was always making some type of baby gift for friends, and they would say, “You should sell these! I would buy one.” So, I decided to give it a try.

My Esty shop name was always something I had in the back of my mind. I liked the rhyme, I liked that it sounded like a kid’s shop, and I knew I wanted a cute “gurgly” turtle to be the face of the shop.

My favorite item currently in my shop is the pillow. Yes, I have one pillow at the moment. She’s a cute little girl with pigtails. I love her.

The first piece I sold was one of my birdie baby blankets. It was brown and pink with polka dots. It was pretty cute.

The first few steps of the creative process is the most enjoyable part for me. I love coming up with something I’d like to try, then drawing it on paper. I’ll draw it again and again until I think that I could now make it out of fabric pieces. I try to keep the blanket designs simple, so that I’m not spending too much time piecing it all together.

I’m not really sure I’m sending out a message with my craft, but I am delighted to be part of the handmade community. I love supporting handmade on Etsy. It’s great.
