My Name Is Not Alexander by Jennifer Fosberry Review and Giveaway – CLOSED

Just how big can a little kid dream?

Ask Alexander, as he takes a wild ride and discovers the sky’s the limit!

Jennifer Fosberry’s follow-up to her New York Times Bestseller My Name Is Not Isabella  follows a young boy on an imaginary trip through history as he pretends to be some of the most innovative men who influenced and shaped our world.

Join Alexander and his dad as Alexander pretends to be Theodore Roosevelt, Thomas Edison, Chief Joseph, Fred Astaire, Jackie Robinson and of course Daddy.  Keep in mind this is a childrens book and that the pages only have a couple of sentences a piece.

You might ask yourself how does a child learn much about a person from only a couple of sentences?  Well it’s easy that when Alexander says he is not Alexander he is Theodore and the dad ask who has been sleeping in his son’s bed then?  The reply is “I am THEODORE, the greatest, grandest, president who ever was!?  “Well, Theodore, PARK yourself here and SAVE your ENERGY for today’s game.”

As you notice above certain words are highlighted and in bold throughout the entire book for a new character.  This will help any child remember that Theodore Roosevelt was in a wheelchair for his presidency.  And that while he was one of our strongest President’s, it was a strength of a different kind.

At the back of the book there are small biographies for each notable person mentioned.  This was nice as a follow up about the characters.  I have to say that while I knew each character and what they were notable for, I didn’t necessarily know the dates or why Fred Astaire was being compared with Theodore Roosevelt.  The biographies in the back showed this comparison.

Coulter is in love with the pictures.  They are bright, colorful and help tell a story by themselves.  The pictures really helped Coulter relate to the story and keep up with what is being told.
