My daughter is in love with dolls. She literally sleeps with a minimum of five dolls each night, and I am constantly being surprised by dolls in dresser drawers, in the baby’s highchair, on top of the counter, in the car seats – pretty much all over the house. As much as I like June’s love of dolls, I have to say that the quality of dolls these days is kind of dismal. Not only that, it sometimes seems like once you’ve seen one doll, you’ve seen them all. So I am constantly on the lookout of well-made, affordable, and unique dolls for my little girl. My Sibling and My Pal Dolls fit that bill perfectly! This company specializes in creating life-like, 18″ dolls that are designed to encourage learning in children.
I received the My Pal Doll of the Month for June – the Patriot Doll to review, and I was blown away by the quality of this doll. First an foremost, it’s a rather large doll (18 inches), which made it exciting for my daughter to play with. Not only that, the Patriot Doll was dressed from head to toe in camouflage gear that June couldn’t wait to take off (sometimes I feel like I live in the world of naked babies – do any of your kids immediately undress every doll they own?) But I think my favorite part about the doll was the booklet that came with it. This booklet wasn’t of the standard “Hi my name is Patriot Doll, won’t you be my friend?” variety – it was actually a place where kids can write their own stories for the dolls. Since it came with the Patriot Doll, this booklet stressed the importance of honoring the service men and women in this country, and June got a kick out of telling me stories to write in her little doll book.
If there’s anything I appreciate more than a company which makes high quality, affordable children’s toys, it’s a company that stands for a cause and makes high quality, educational, and affordable children’s toys. My Pal and My Sibling Dolls are made by LorettaRose, LLC. This for-profit company was born after the nonprofit organization dedicated to advocating for children with autism, Danny’sHouse, closed its doors. Although LorettaRose is a for-profit company, it has the same charitable vision as Danny’sHouse did, and it has so far proven to be a remarkable advocate for individuals with disabilities. All My Sibling and My Pal Dolls are dressed, accessorized, packaged, labeled, and assembled by teenagers and adults with disabilities, and each My Pal and My Sibling doll is designed to educate children about a unique group of people. For instance, the My Sibling dolls each have a developmental disability which can help our kids learn about and come to accept children who may be different from them. This is an amazing company, which makes amazing dolls and fulfills an incredible need in this country. 14 years agoMy youngest daughter is ten years old. All her dolls have to sit at the table with us for meals. She sets them up with plates and utensils (doll sized). It is so wonderful to watch her. I would love to win this patriot doll for her. My second oldest son spent 4 year in the US Marine Corp and for 3 years of that he spent in Afghanistan and Iraq.
