I just got a kick out of this name- a glasses store, selling glasses direct “Eye Buy Direct”. Anybody else? No, Ok well I am easily amused. Eye Buy direct is an online source to purchase prescription (and non prescription) glasses, including the lenses! I must say I was rather leery of ordering eye glasses online, I have had to wear glasses since high school and I have always done the traditional way of going to the eye doctor and spending the hundreds of dollars for new glasses. After having boys I have found that contacts last longer with less bending and bruised eyes, but I use glasses for tired eyes, night movies and such.
Not being able to try glasses on was what made me uneasy about this, but I gave it a shot. After exploring Eye Buy Direct’s website I discovered the neatest thing- you can try glasses on online! Not kidding – you get a picture on your computer either by web cam or upload one from you computer or camera. You line up your pupils with where the computer will line up to put your glasses on for you. You can also pick a model to try the glasses on like this guy here. This is Eye Buy Direct’s virtual dressing room, to “try it before you buy it”. Once you try them on you can save the ones you like which allows you to compare them. Awesome!
Eye Buy Direct also has stylish frames for both prescription glasses and sun glasses. You can narrow your search by gender, price, frame, shape, material, measurement, even color to get to what you want. The best thing I discovered about Eye Buy Direct is the price. Unbelievable! Glasses include frame, lens and anti-scratch protection, some as low as $7.95. Ok I know what your thinking its because they are cheaply made. When I received the glasses I was rather surprised at the quality, the glasses I chose (on the left) are in the $25 range, and are made of plastic (seems to hold up longer in my world). They seem sturdy and have worked great, I do need to get them adjusted as they slide down my nose. When you order glasses from Eye Buy Direct you also get a cleaning cloth and case, the case is not as well made as the glasses but hey it’s free.
