Piggy Paint – Review and Giveaway – CLOSED

I am so thrilled to have the chance to tell you all about Piggy Paint, a safe, non-toxic, odorless, nail polish for kids and grownups alike. Like most kids, my daughter loves to paint her nails and dress up like her momma. Unfortunately, my husband has long since decided that nail polish smells too bad and is too dangerous to use on a two year old (and, sadly, I have to agree). Truthfully, when I first heard about this new “natural” nail polish, I was skeptical. However, when my sample of Piggy Paint arrived in the mail, I found out right away that the product lives up to its claims.

I received two different colors to try out: Forever Fancy pink, and Sea-quin blue. They both arrived quickly, well-packaged, and ready to use. Because my daughter is two, and she treats the idea of waiting to do something fun with the same disgust as she shows the baby’s dirty diapers, we dove right in and started painting our nails. The Piggy Paint really had almost no odor at all, and it went on smoothly and easily. I will warn you though, because this product does not contain harsh chemicals, it takes a while to set and dry. The company recommends using a hair dryer to help set the polish color, but my daughter was terrified of the idea of holding the “hot air gun” over her hand so we skipped that step. Her nails did chip a little after that, but since she is two, it doesn’t matter.

What does matter is what happened a few minutes later. After I finished painting June’s nails, I stuck the nail polish in a drawer and went to change the baby’s diaper. In the five minutes I was out of the kitchen, June found the nail polish, managed to get it open, and painted both hands and her lips pink with the Piggy Paint! I took a quick moment to panic, and then I simply washed the paint off with soap and warm water. Because Piggy Paint is made from water-based, natural materials, this parenting mishap ended in a quick laugh and a scrub down, rather than in the dangerous chemical burns which could have occurred should she had painted herself with traditional nail polish.

Based on my experiences with this company, I would definitely recommend this product to all mothers. The Piggy Paint Website has a huge selection of vibrant colors that are sure to be a hit with any child. I am already thinking about Piggy Paint slumber parties, make-over nights, photo-shoots….. well, maybe I’ll wait until my daughter’s old enough NOT to try eat the nail polish!
