Pretty Useless Facts Sunday

~ ‘Stewardesses’ is the longest word that is typed with only the left hand.
~ To escape the grip of a crocodile’s jaws, push your thumbs into it’s eyeballs – it will let you go instantly.
~ Reindeer like to eat bananas.

~ No word in the English language rhymes with month, orange, silver and purple.
~ The name Wendy was made up for the book “Peter Pan.”
~ Barbie’s full name is Barbara Millicent Roberts.
~ Every time you lick a stamp, you consume 1/10 of a calorie.
~ If you scuffed your feet long enough without touching anything, you would build up so many electrons that your finger would explode! But this is nothing to worry about, unless you have carpeting.
~ Venetian Law decrees that all gondolas must be painted black.  the only exception is those are gondolas that belong to high public officials.

~ According to law, no store is allowed to sell a toothbrush on the Sabbath in Providence, Rhode Island.  Yet the same stores are allowed to sell toothpaste and mouthwash on Sundays.
~ The electric chair was invented by a dentist.
~ “I am.” is the shortest complete sentence in the English language.
~ The first words that Thomas A. Edison spoke into the phonograph were, “Mary had a little lamb.”
~ Honking of car horns for a couple that just got married is an old superstition to insure great sex.
~ Candy made from pieces of barrel cactus was outlawed in the U.S. in 1952 to protect the species.
~ A person cannot taste food unless it is mixed with saliva. For example, if a strong-tasting substance like salt is placed on a dry tongue, the taste buds will not be able to taste it. As soon as a drop of saliva is added and the salt is dissolved, however, a definite taste sensation results. This is true for all foods.

~ The groom traditionally lifts the bride over the threshold of their new home (or wedding-night hotel room) so that evil spirits lurking in the floorboards won’t be able to get to her! Roman brides would let themselves be dragged over the threshold to demonstrate their reluctance to leave their father’s home.
~ The short-term memory capacity for most people is between five and nine items or digits. This is one reason that phone numbers were kept to seven digits for so long.

~ Honey is the only food that does not spoil.  honey found in the tombs of Egyptian pharaohs has been tasted by archaeologists and found edible.
~ Beetles taste like apples, wasps like pine nuts and worms like fried bacon.
~ Queen Elizabeth I regarded herself as a paragon of cleanliness.  She declared that she bathed once every three months, whether she needed it or not.

~ There is approximately one chicken for every human being in the world.

~ So many visitors were taking his cigars, so Thomas Edison devised a plan to discourage the practice. He had several boxes of cigars custom-made with cabbage leaves. But when the offensive smelling stogies were delivered to his office, his secretary sent them on to his home where his wife went ahead and packed the items in his luggage, and the offensive items accompanied Mr. Edison on his business trip. This just goes to show you that even a genius can’t outsmart his wife.
Enjoy a wonderful and sunny Sunday!

I know that it would take something drastic for me to try out those flavors. I think I will stick to the real thing for now. Thank you to both of you for stopping by! – Brandy
