Sidral Mundet’s apple flavored soft drink comes from Mexico and is popular for its great taste which comes from real apples and not artificial flavors. Made with natural sugar, Sidral Mundet boasts a unique and delicious taste.
Mundet started in 1902 when Porfirio Diaz was still governing Mexico, and Pancho Villa was knows as Jose Doreoteo and being a tough revolutionary was a distant thought. Today, Sidral Mundet still maintains its high quality becasue its flavor comes from apple juice and Sidral Mundet is pasteurized which guarantees its quality and freshness.
So clean and refreshing, Mexican mothers trusted it and would give their children Sidral Mundet when they had upset stomachs to provide hydration and still today Sidral Mundet is used among Mexican grownups when dealing with a stomach ache or to aide in a more grownup condition: “cruda”.
Today, Mundet increased its flavors and introduced Mundet Green Apple, tangy and refreshing also made with apple as a flavoring.
Well for starters my samples came packaged in this great box that gave the above description (which is not in it’s entirety). I felt it was very well packaged, however, I am sure this was just for sampling purposes and wouldn’t be this way in the store.
My husband and I popped open the Green Apple flavor, and I do mean popped open as these lids are not twist off. Break out bottle opener. We could hear the fizz as we opened it but not like the normal “soda” fizz you hear when you open a Pepsi or Cola, this was much more subtle. Also, first smell was different, it wasn’t filled with the same smells as usual pop has. I can’t describe it but, be ready for something different. The flavor was good but not what I expected. I was expecting something like apple cider or a Martinelli’s drink. Mundet was a more mellow flavor in my opinion and definitely didn’t have the sugar that those others have. We started this warm so we put it in the fridge to see if it would be better cold. It was a lot better.
The second flavor sent my way was the original apple flavor. The color was a reddish brown and was cloudy. I wasn’t sure what I was expecting as we started off with this one cold, but I found it refreshing. I really like the original flavor while Cory cared for the Green Apple flavor more. The original flavor just seemed more refreshing to me and didn’t have so much tang. Cory prefers the limey soda drinks more so that is why I think we have a difference in preference.
In the long run this is something I would purchase if I found it at the grocery store. I don’t see us making this our drink of choice for a daily dose, but to have to mix up the flavors in our hose.
