Our story is quite simple. We had a desire to share a cloth that is better than any cloth we have ever used and was environmentally friendly. We started to do a little research and were shocked to see how people were cleaning their kitchens. We were even more shocked to find out how many tons of paper towels were being used annually (2.5 million tons) and filling up our landfills.
Looking for a name proved challenging. After looking for a long time, we found a word that is the philosophy of our business. Skoj (pronounced Skoy) is a Swedish word that means: “just for fun”!
Our factory is aware of the responsibility for handling its resources carefully. We use renewable raw materials such as cellulose (derived from wood), and cotton to produce our SKOY cloths. Our factory has invested heavily in developing and implementing an integrated environmental recycling and disposal facility in which the economical use of energy and water is first and foremost. Production by-products are purified and recycled as far as possible within the process. Regeneration baths are returned to production by an evaporation process. Wastewater is treated at the site’s biological wastewater purification plants. This environmental concept is at the vanguard of operations-related environmental policy and has resulted in our factory becoming a reference company throughout the industry.
My Take
This is not my first time dealing with SKOY cloths as I was given one about a year ago from a friend. When I first felt the material I wasn’t sure what I thought. Of course at the time I really wasn’t that concerned about doing anything that was “green”. However, as time has moved on and I see how much I know accumulate with two kids rather than just Cory and I am seeing just how important it is.
The SKOY cloth is 100% bio-degradeable, reusable and very absorbent. Made from natural cotton and wood pulp cellulose pulp. Now I can say that after the SKOY cloth gets wet it really limbers up and does an amazing job! I am more than happy to be using the SKOY cloth over any other cloth in my house. I can use it on any room in my house as well. It’s perfect for getting into the nooks and the crannies in the bathroom that a regular cloth struggles with, that is where I generally used paper towels. I know that I am doing sometihng to help the environment and I feel that the SKOY cloth does just as well as any other product on the market.
The only thing that I don’t like is that I can’t wash Coulter’s hands and face with it. For some reason he hates the way it feels. It’s not rough but he is not ok with it. Also, it seems that he needs the grab of the actual cloth feel to take the food and sauces off his skin.
The best part is that it doesn’t require any extra cleaning. You can through it in the washer with any of your regular loads or very interstingly…pop it in the microwave. Sure to kill any germs and bacteria and you can feel safe that it’s not a breeding ground for anything you don’t want in your house.
Last year at my women’s convention they were given to every woman in the room. This year they were begging for more and I know I was in line begging with them. This is a great product for everyday use and I believe is really helping to bring our society to a “greener” world.
