Snap Fashion Jewelry Studio from ArtLab Review and Giveaway – CLOSED

The countdown to Mother’s Day is here and the question in my house is “what do you want for Mother’s Day”? My reply… I want breakfast at a restaurant and the rest is up to you boys. Around every holiday that a gift is usually included I get this question and I can’t stand it. In my house growing up it was truly a surprise of what we would be getting. We never got asked or made lists and truly I liked it better this way on the receiving end (the giving end I like a guide of what to get them, so hypocritical lol) because then I feel like some thought was put into it. I’m like my mom and not hard to shop for, anything will make something I will love, especially handmade.

Mother’s Day in my mind is the prime holiday for a handmade gift especially from grandchildren. I just love the thought and mess that a handmade gift brings and this year Coulter is old enough. Coulter and I sat down for a lesson in jewelry making using the Snap Fashion Jewelry Studio by SmartLab Toys. Coulter tore into the kit before I knew what was happening and had himself a ring picked out. So we set to work on the easy instructions with the pieces all being provided for us. For somebody with a little more experience you could make a variety of things and many instructions and ideas were included in the book Snap It Up that accompanied our kit. However, we stuck with the items provided and at a 3 year olds level. Back to how simple it was…You place a swatch of fabric that was pre-cut into the snap maker and place a snap dome on top of the fabric. Push down and and your fabric is no curved around your base. Next is to place a snap dome back onto your snap maker, fold the edges of your fabric into the top of the snap dome and press down again. With the touch of a button your snap pops out and then it was a matter of placing into our ring set.

He was so proud and I loved how easy it was! We quickly set off to work on a bracelet for Grandma V and a necklace for Grandma R. Within 30 minutes we had made a ring, bracelet and necklace and I am done with gifts. Thank you for such a simple product and something that my son can actually do on his own…mostly ok well maybe I am giving him a little to much credit or wishful thinking. I would trust a 3 year old who is a bit closer to 4 to be able to do the basic project completely by themselves. Once you have to start cutting your own fabric pieces it might take a bit of adult help.
