Okay everyone, as promised I am back to update you on my weight-loss progress using the Studio V website. I’ve been keeping a brief journal that I’ll post for you here, but I wanted to take a minute to share some observations with you. First, losing weight is hard. Seriously, this stuff is not for sissies :-). My body is sore all the time, and the fat girl inside is constantly fighting with my much-abused will power to give it all up and eat ice cream. Second, even signing up for a great weight-loss/health program like Studio V is not enough. All these sites can do for you is provide guidance and support, they can’t lose the weight for you. (Imagine my shock when I realized I actually had to work out to the videos rather than just watch them. And did you know that healthy food doesn’t just cook itself? I know that’s crazy right!) But I guess the most important thing I’m realizing is that it will all be worth it in the end. This is a huge challenge for me, but as long as I take it one day at a time, and one choice at a time, I’m gonna wake up one day and see a skinny woman in the mirror!
Day 1: Well today is my first official day working with Studio V, and I have to admit that this is a tough journey to begin. I mostly spent the day getting used to the website, checking out the menu for the week, purchasing the food I need, and getting to know my virtual trainer (the site offers workout videos that will meet almost any one’s needs). And let’s see…. what else did I do? Oh that’s right I weighed myself (can you hear the scary music playing in the background?) According to my bathroom scale, I weight 167 pounds. Since I’m only 5 feet tall, my ideal weight is around 110 pounds, so that means I have a whopping 57 pounds to lose! According to my son, “Mommy needs to go on that fat person show.” Great. Well, even the longest walk begins with a single step right? My goal is to lose 10 pounds this month. The dieting and exercise begin tomorrow, so maybe I can avoid a casting call for any “fat person show” this year. Keep your fingers crossed for me!
Day 2: Today I went for a nice long walk with my kids, tried out a kickboxing video from Studio V, and cooked up a delicious chicken dinner from my personalized diet menu provided by the site. So far so good….. we’ll see how I feel tomorrow.
Day 3: Yep, I am one hurting woman today. It’s kind of embarrassing actually how out of shape I’ve gotten. I went for another walk with the kids, but skipped the work out videos, I’m just too darn sore. (Is this a cop out? I’m really not sure at this point.) Dinner for the night was whole wheat pasta with tri-color peppers in tomato, another recipe from the Studio V site. So far I am really enjoying the recipes they are providing!
Day 4: It’s too windy to go for a walk, so I decided to try Studio V’s Arms and Ab’s workout video (27 minutes total). Unfortunately, I only got about 15 minutes into it before my kids all woke up from their naps and it was time to be mommy again. Hopefully I’ll have more time tomorrow.
Day 5: Not much new to report. I’m getting used to oatmeal for breakfast, but evenings have been tough. Once I get the kids to bed, all I want to do is eat! Hopefully I can get over this soon before I drive myself crazy.
Day 6: Took another walk with the kids and then settled down to do homework and work on blog posts. Tomorrow is weigh-in day and I’m nervous. I’ve pretty much stuck to my diet, but I know I could stand to work out more. Well, tomorrow is a new day and then I’ll start a new week. Hopefully I’ve lost something!
Day 7: The first thing I did this morning was cross my fingers and jump on the bathroom scale (well I didn’t jump because I’m still fat, but you know what I mean). Today I weigh 165 pounds, which means I lost 2 pounds this week! It wasn’t the three or four I was looking for, but I’ll take what I can get. So far, my experience with Studio V has been great!
Okay, that’s it for this week. Remember, I’m looking for support where ever I can find it, so please leave your comments and suggestions! Do you guys have any tricks to fitting in workout time with three energetic kids? How about a healthy snack suggestion to share? I’d love to hear from you all, especially if anyone else out there is on a journey similar to mine. (I can’t be the only girl in the world trying to lose weight, it is bikini season right?)
