5 Must Reads For Your First Grader

5 Must Reads For Your First Grader

must reads

It’s summertime and that means your child needs to keep learning. There is only one way to keep your child learning and that’s through reading. Here are five books your first grader needs to read this summer.

Frog and Toad Are Friends by Arnold Lobel

If you didn’t read Frog and Toad when you were a kid, you are totally missing out. This is such a fun book for all ages, but especially for first graders. There are also five stories in this book, so your child will be busy reading for a while. It’s nice to switch up the reading pattern a little bit as well.

Miss Smith’s Incredible Story Book by Michael Garland

What’s better than reading about reading? Miss Smith will rock your summer and your child’s summer as well. She has magic powers and they are only tell-able if you read her book. Make sure you have a great conversation with your child after reading this book.

The Cat in the Hat by Dr. Suess

Dr. Suess books are so much fun. Anyone from any age will enjoy reading this book, but I’m confident that your first grader will love it. Dr. Suess writes like no other person in the world. Have fun reading rhymes and maybe even writing some of your own this summer.

Miss Nelson is Missing by Harry Allard

This is an amazing book. You may have enjoyed reading it as a child and now your first grader can as well. Miss Nelson is Missing brings about a story plot that you can’t find in a lot of books these days. Take turns reading this book over the summer, I know your child will love it.

Olivia by Ian Falconer

Olivia is an interesting character that really brings this story to life. She’s a cute little pig that has the personality of your first grader (most likely). She’s spunky and has a lot to say. Your child will enjoy reading a book that they can relate to.

This list of books will help you get your child started on the reading journey of a lifetime this summer.

What’s on your little one’s reading list?
