This is an amazing book. You may have enjoyed reading it as a child and now your first grader can as well. Miss Nelson is Missing brings about a story plot that you can’t find in a lot of books these days. Take turns reading this book over the summer, I know your child will love it.

Olivia is an interesting character that really brings this story to life. She’s a cute little pig that has the personality of your first grader (most likely). She’s spunky and has a lot to say. Your child will enjoy reading a book that they can relate to.

You may be wondering what else helps kids learn to read. Listening to audio book is another way children learn to read. Through audio books they are developing a love for reading. Plus, they’re learning new words and how to put those words into action.

You can also talk to your kids! Sounds simple and crazy, but just talking to your kids exposes them to new vocabulary. You can also teach your kids new words. I like to have a word of the week.
